Pilates excercising & Golf

I always understood how golf and Pilates go together because golfers, like Pilates students, have a mind and body connection when performing the activity. The Reformer apparatus used during Pilates stretching and exercise helps to strengthen the body’s rotation capability. In golf, this is one of the greatest factors in a powerful swing. Hip disassociation is the ability to move your leg in your hip joint freely without moving your pelvis or spine much. With the golf swing you need the correct power and speed through your hips while remaining stable through your legs. That critical motion of the golf swing increasing your flexibility in your hips is achievable through reformer Pilates. Balance and weight transfer is another important aspect of the golf swing. Core control, core stability and strength through the abdominal and pelvis muscles are the key to generating power through the golf swing. These are key principles taught in Pilates. Poor core strength leads to common golfing injuries such as low back pain, shoulder pain as well as elbow and wrist pain. Reformer Pilates also will focus on dynamic flexibility which will not only help improve your mobility for your golf swing, but your overall physical health too. My studio is located close to some of the most popular golf courses in Florida and several miles from the Professional Golfers Association of America (PGA) Headquarters. Thank you.
